The Ashbourne Project

Turning lived experience with cancer into clarity, confidence, and better care — for patients, families, and the system that supports them.

A patient-led initiative grounded in evidence, collaboration, and respect for Australia’s cancer care ecosystem.

What The Ashbourne Project Is

The Ashbourne Project (TAP) is a patient-led initiative designed to help people navigate cancer with clarity, confidence, and agency.

It translates lived experience, medical insight, and system knowledge into practical guidance — helping patients and families make informed decisions, ask better questions, and feel less alone in an often overwhelming system.

Why The Ashbourne Project Exists

Too many people enter the cancer system without clear guidance, context, or support — often at the most vulnerable moment of their lives.

The Ashbourne Project exists because navigating treatment, understanding options, and advocating for yourself should not depend on luck, privilege, or insider knowledge. Patients deserve clarity, dignity, and access to information that empowers them — not confusion, fear, or silence.

How The Ashbourne Project Works

The Ashbourne Project brings together lived experience, clinical insight, and practical guidance to help people navigate cancer with greater clarity and confidence.

Through storytelling, expert interviews, curated resources, and advocacy, TAP translates complex medical and system knowledge into clear, human language. The goal is not to replace medical advice — but to help patients and families ask better questions, understand their options, and feel supported as they move through treatment and care.

Get Involved

The Ashbourne Project exists to support people — but it is strengthened through collaboration, conversation, and shared purpose.

Patients and families can follow the project, watch and listen to interviews, and access resources designed to help them navigate care with greater confidence.

Clinicians, organisations, advocates, and partners are invited to contribute expertise, share insight, and collaborate in ways that strengthen cancer care without duplication or disruption to existing work.

Our Approach

The Ashbourne Project is independent, patient-led, and grounded in lived experience, evidence, and respect for Australia’s existing cancer care system. It does not replace clinical advice or institutional care, but exists to complement them — translating complexity into clarity, and helping people engage more confidently with the care they receive.
